A new range of large capacity, CNC turning and part-off equipment for tube up to 8in diameter has been introduced to the UK by Rivers Machinery under a sole agency agreement with the US manufacturer, Bardons and Oliver, Ohio, US. The machines are intended mainly for production applications in the automotive, pipe and tube industries but are also used worldwide by manufacturers in the machine tool, mining, oil country, fluid power and aerospace sectors. All are horizontal-spindle lathes featuring a rigid, heavy-duty, cast iron base.
Aggressive roughing cuts may be taken from heavy workpieces while fine finishing is equally successful.
Service life is said to be particularly long for a machine in this size class.
Both standard and custom turning machines are available in short lead times, equipped with various material handling capabilities including magazine-type loading of tubes from rack or bundle storage, automatic pick-off of short parts, or support and discharge of longer parts.
Component transfer to secondary stations for additional machining, inspection or cleaning can also be included.
All configurations are supplied as fully engineered, turnkey packages with up to two years' warranty.
A demonstration machine is installed at Rivers Machinery' Southampton showroom for customer demonstrations and applications engineering.
