Key to the grinder’s fast cycling is a single direct drive multi-directional spindle with dual wheel packs positioned at either end of the spindle. The configuration provides unrestricted access to the workpiece.

The spindle has a peak power of 19kW and maximum speed of 12,000 rpm. It also has more power at low speed, with its highest power at 3,600 rpm, making it suited to carbide grinding. With the motor and ballscrew in line together, backlash is eliminated, improving accuracy, the company says.
